P.E.I. Potato Board partners for Operation Pollinator

April 15, 2021  By Potatoes in Canada

The Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) Potato Board has partnered with Syngenta to bring Operation Pollinator to the Island.

Operation Pollinator is a program originally developed by the United Kingdom branch of Syngenta, which focuses on research and partnerships that promote the health and well-being of bees and other pollinating insects. The program’s mandate is to support activities that enhance biodiversity, habitat and other practical initiatives that can contribute to healthy pollinator populations.

Interested producers agree to convert up to two acres of lower-productivity land to establish a dedicated Operation Pollinator site. They then receive a provision of pollinator-friendly commercial seed, agronomic advice and financial assistance to help offset site establishment costs.
