Growing potatoes with cover crops

Ken Laing (Living Lab-Ontario farm cooperator) and Ryan Barrett (Living Lab-Atlantic collaborator/P.E.I. Poato Board) will discuss growing potatoes with cover crops in an upcoming webinar on Wednesday, April 20 at 12:30 p.m.

Laing will discuss his trials, which involved planting organic potatoes into a standing cover crop of rye/hairy vetch, noting the cover crops and then letting the potatoes grow without tillage or weeds for hilling. Barrett will discuss trials run in his home province, testing various fall-planted cover crops ahead of conventional potato production.

Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
