June 28, 2024 By Potatoes in Canada
To mark the 15th anniversary of the Canada Organic Regime, the federal government pledged to invest more than $2M in two organizations – the Canada Organic Trade Association and the Prairie Organic Development Fund – through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
The Canada Organic Trade Association will receive up to $1.2M over three years under the AgriMarketing program, which will facilitate the growth of the organic sector through addressing market access issues, increasing competition, building export capacity and developing export opportunities. Activities include incoming and outgoing trade missions, international trade shows, technical training and marketing campaigns.
he Prairie Organic Development Fund will receive up to $985,985 over three years under the AgriCompetitiveness Program. The funding is intended to help build evidence for organics through data aggregation and benchmarking, growing organic supply and leadership through education, tools, and skill-building, and strengthening public trust in Canadian organics.
