Tool detects blackleg disease, other pathogens in potatoes

A new tool has been developed by scientists that designs species-specific DNA tags – also known as primers – for detecting pathogens using DNA testing. Called Uniqprimer, it was originally designed to detect blackleg disease but can be applied to any pathogen in any geographic area.
