Potatoes grown in Maine are expected to be in strong demand after harvests in the United States’ and Canada’s western regions fell short due to poor fall weather. “Because of a shortage of potatoes in those areas, buyers will have to look elsewhere to keep a supply through the winter,” Andy Yaeger, salesperson for a local grower, said. “I think they are going to be looking to Maine.”
