RCMP’s potato tampering investigation moving slowly
Jan. 8, 2015, Summerside, PEI – Lab results in the RCMP's investigation of potato tampering will likely be delayed after even more potatoes were discovered to contain needles.

Late last month Cavendish Farms discovered sewing needles in a batch of potatoes at its plant in New Annan. The company informed police, who have sent the potatoes to a private lab for analysis.
That same lab has also been tapped to examine tampered potatoes that originated at Summerside’s Linkletter Farms earlier in the year.
“Because we have sent additional potatoes with needles to this lab it has extended the diary date. We are expecting it will extend it by a couple of months,” Sgt. Leanne Butler, an RCMP spokesperson, told the Journal Pioneer.
Butler said the results of the lab’s analysis will likely be delivered by February.
