Manitoba Potato Production Days 2021 is cancelled

August 28, 2020  By Potatoes in Canada

The Manitoba Potato Production Days (MPPD) planning committee made the decision to cancel the 2021 conference.

The planning committee states that although the technical program could go virtual the trade show could not.

“Social interaction whether in the trade show or at meals is an integral part of the conference and with so many uncertainties, increasing number of incidents of Covid in the province, it is more important to keep everyone safe.

“We did not want to compromise the reputation and quality we have strived so hard to achieve by reducing the technical program, number of displays or limiting attendance. Based on public policy at this time it would be impossible to plan to hold Potato Days in January.

“We want to thank all past sponsors and exhibitors for their support. We also thank the Keystone Centre and Canad Inns Brandon for their understanding as we make this difficult decision,” the planning committee wrote in a media release.

Held annually since 1973 the Great Canadian Potato Show will be taking a break in 2021. The MPPD organizers hope to be back in 2022.
