Lay’s Canada reveals four finalist flavours

After receiving almost 950,000 flavour submissions, Lay’s Canada has revealed the four finalist flavours for this year’s contest:  

• Cowboy BBQ Beans on Lay’s Wavy by Brenda Boghean
• Butter Chicken on Lay’s Original by Darryl Francispillai
• Montreal Smoked Meat on Lay’s Original by Zdravko Gunjevic
• PEI Scalloped Potatoes on Lay’s Original by Jordan Cairns

It’s now up to Canadians to choose the winning flavour by trying all four and voting for the yummiest. Voting is open from Aug. 11 to Sept. 30. Canadians can vote once per day in each of the following ways:  

• Online at Lays.ca/Flavour
• By texting VOTE to 101010
• By tweeting one of the flavour finalist voting hashtags
• By Instagramming one of the flavour finalist voting hashtags

Voting hashtags for Twitter and Instagram are: #VoteCowboyBBQBeans, #VoteButterChicken, #VoteMontrealSmokedMeat and #VotePEIScallopedPotatoes.

The flavour finalist that garners the most votes will win the $50,000 grand prize plus one per cent of their flavour’s future sales once the voting period ends.

“The flavour submissions not only reflected the diverse tastes, but also the diverse regions across our fantastic country,” said Susan Irving, senior director of marketing – core brands with PepsiCo Food Canada. “Selecting our four Do Us a Flavour finalists was not an easy task. The challenge that lies ahead for them now is to win over the taste buds and votes of potato chip fans across Canada. As voting kicks off, I encourage all Canadians to try all four flavours and vote for the yummiest – I’m excited to see which flavour they choose!”  

Canadians will have to act fast if they want to try all four finalist flavours – they will be available nationwide in early August for a limited time only. The next great Lay’s potato chip flavour will be announced and available across Canada in late November.
