Potato shortfall leaves some fry shacks short of essential ingredient

Some businesses that need a steady supply of potatoes — like fresh-cut fry shacks — are having problems sourcing their key ingredient.

The shortage of potatoes is a result of higher demand and a lower supply of potatoes being available. This year, a cool spring delayed planting and hot, drought conditions during the summer stressed potato crop. The recent rainfall saved potato crop in P.E.I. from a disaster year. | READ MORE
